Have you ever had to pose for a picture and all of a sudden, you don't know what to do. You try to remember some poses that you saw on Instagram but nothing is working, your hands become stiff, your legs won't move and you just feel completely awkward?
Have you ever uttered the statement "Me, I don't know how to pose o"?
Or you see pictures of other ladies and you just want to slay in pictures too.
Fantastic, you're reading just the right article.
My name is Akorede, I'm a portrait photographer, and in this article, I'll share with you 5 easy poses that will make you look hot in pictures and make your friends beg you for tutorials.
Get ready to be the celebrity model among your friends.
I advise you to stand in front of a mirror and practice these poses as you read along. That way, you can immediately tell which of these poses work perfectly for you and which one doesn't. Feel free to let me know which one of them you love most.
So let’s get into the list.
1. Walk towards the camera.
Let's start with the easiest. This is one trick a lot of professional models do on photoshoots. It makes them appear very natural.
Walking towards the camera creates movement in your pictures and creates a beautiful angle with your body since one of your legs will have to cross over the other one and this creates a slimming effect on your body.
2. Hand on your hip.
This is another pose that creates angles with your body. It also works when you don't have any props or objects to pose with.
Be careful when you use this pose that you don't exert so much force when putting your hand on your hip. The placement and movement of your hands on your body should be soft and light.
3. Twirl.
Twirl. Roll. Spin. Turn around. Rotate. Whichever communicates the idea best to you. Twirling in pictures can be a lot of fun and it also creates a wonderful kind of movement in your pictures.
Try as much as possible to relax your face as you twirl, cos you might end up with some bad pictures if you're laughing too hard.
This pose works best if you're wearing a flowy gown or skirt. I don't advise twirling in pants or con-gowns plus it won't have the same effect as wearing a flowy skirt.
4. Look back at the camera.
This is another playful pose. You back the camera and turn your face back to look at the camera. Easy right? I like to tell people to smile in this type of pose as if they're surprised to see someone behind them.
Turn your body a little bit back to the camera when looking back. If you don't turn your body back, your neck will have a lot of turning to do and that can make the picture look awkward.
5. Curvy as an "S".
The beauty of the female body lies in the curves. So when posing for a picture, you need to make the most of your curves. Yep, embrace those curves, every lady has it.
The best way to do this is to think in terms of an S shape. The s-shape is a classic women's pose but it can be a bit tough to get right at first. I got you, just follow my lead.
Stand in front of a mirror to practice this.
Put one leg slightly in front of the other. Push your hip towards the leg that's behind (if your left leg is in front, then push your hip towards the right side of your body), which ensures your weight is on one foot. Putting one foot in front of the other makes your hips tilt and can make you look curvier while also elongating your legs.
Relax your shoulders.
Put one hand on the hip that's pushed out.
You can then put the other hand behind your head, on your face, across your chest, etc.

45-degree pose.
Turn your body halfway to one side and this will make you look taller and slimmer while highlighting your figure. It's usually advisable not to face the camera full-body as that could make you appear bigger than you are and make you appear too straight.
Lips slightly apart.
It is lips slightly apart, not mouth opened. A lot of models do this and it makes the face relaxed and welcoming. Opening the mouth won't achieve the effect we're looking for. So an easy way to achieve this is to breathe through your lips enough to avoid your lips from touching one another without having your mouth too open.
Both hands on hips.
This helps the waist seem smaller because the gaps created by the arm give a slimming effect to the waist. This pose also radiates confidence and power.
I hope this helps. Like really, did you find it valuable?
Awesome.
